Aesthetic Dentistry
Aesthetic Dentistry
Aesthetic dentistry, white teeth and the use of modern
high strength ceramic materials are often portrayed to be
synonymous. This is not wrong, but it is rather an over
simplification.
The underlying concept of aesthetic dentistry attempts to create
perfect looking, harmonious restorations (teeth and gums) in
keeping with the aesthetic parameters of the face, and mouth
without compromising durability, longevity and biocompatibilty.
In complex cases this goal can only be achieved by a team of
specialists ( the Restorative Dentist, the Periodontist, the
Orthodontist, the Dental Technician, the Maxillo-Facial
Surgeon).
In all multispecialist/disciplinary cases it is of utmost
importance that the planning and driving force behind the treatment
remains the Restorative Dentist. The Restorative Dentist is the
leader of the "orchestra" who are guided by his planning and
experience and perform to the specifications set. This requires
profound knowledge and experience on behalf of the Restorative
Dentist.
Dr Holyoak is well placed to lead the team in this way. He has
been an full member of the British Academy of Aesthetic
Dentistry (BAAD) since 2000.
